Hawea Flat School is a six teacher contributing primary school, located in a semi-rural area, 6 kms from Lake Hawea township and 16 kms from Wanaka. There are 6 classrooms, a separate library and a community room, all on site. The school roll has been growing steadily and is predicted to grow again this year. The roll is expected to peak at 151 this year.
The school is well resourced and provides excellent learning opportunities in all curriculum areas. The spacious grounds have a number of large specimen trees, a fantastic adventure playground, playing fields with rugby posts and soccer goals along with a large sandpit and shade domes. The bike park is a recent addition and includes jumps, a pump track and a perimeter track to cater for riders of all ability levels. There is also a community, solar heated swimming pool on site. The school also has access to the Hawea Flat Community Hall which can be used for large concerts, dances and indoor sports activities.
