Built in 1897, Ponsonby Community Centre was initially a school. It was purchased by Auckland City Council in 1958 for use as a hall. The Centre has been rebuilt and completely refurbished since a fire in August 1999.

Since 1990, the Centre has offered expanded services including OSCAR (out of school care & recreation) programmes, subsidised adult education and a pre-school as well as being a venue for hire.

Vision: Ponsonby Community Centre - a dynamic place to learn, grow and have fun together.

Purpose: A not-for-profit organization in Ponsonby providing social, educational and recreational activities for the community.

Hours: 7am-9am Mon - Fri.

After School Care: Children are collected from local schools. We provide afternoon tea, homework supervision, computing, art & crafts, sports and free play as well as library trips, special events and sleepovers. Children can choose their own activities.

Hours: 3pm - 6pm Mon - Fri.

School Holiday Programmes: There are daily trip options, eg. Movies, swimming, or a centre based programme of activities (similar to after school). We offer a primary (5 - 10 year olds) and intermediate programme (11-13 year olds). The programme is CYF approved and complies with Auckland City Council Guidelines for Holiday Programmes.

Hours: 7am - 6pm every school holidays - April, July, Oct & Dec/Jan.
