The St Heliers Church and Community Centre offers school holiday programmes for children aged 5-9yrs and 10-14yrs. The programme includes centre-based activities (arts and crafts, games, cooking etc), as well as day trip outings (Motat, Western Springs etc). Supervised childcare is available outside of programme hours.
We are the St Heliers Presbyterian Church and Community Centre. We value our history and traditions but are not burdened by either. It helps us name who we are among the vast variety of Christian churches. Presbyterians came here from Scotland to find freedom of religion in the early 1800’s. They were free thinkers, passionate about transforming society; believed in education and equal opportunity for all. Their commitment to Christ and the church was the centre of their lives and they chose to live out this commitment by regular and devout worship and serving their community.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS :
The St Heliers Church and Community Centre Autumn Holidays Bush Camp 2009 at Camp Adair will be a wonderful chance for your children to experience a fun packed holiday in the beautiful Hunua Ranges. Camp Adair is a YMCA camping facility, well known to, and enjoyed by several generations of young people.
Our action packed inclusive programme will offer our young people opportunity to test their skills in many outdoor pursuits, including raft building, archery, mud slide, bush craft, confidence courses and many other activities—there will be something for everyone. All activities are included in the cost of the camp.
The camp offers excellent accommodation, with several dormitories, kitchen, dining hall and shower blocks. Campers will have the opportunity to cook their own lunch over the campfire, while in the evening we’ll have a combination of BBQ and traditional cooking. Food preparation, cooking and clearing up will be a group activity, supervised by adult leaders. All our activities are aimed at developing young peoples’ social and leadership skills, while encouraging the creation of friendships to last a lifetime. Christian Fellowship is the basis of our camp programme. there’ll be lots of music, fun and drama for everyone.
