For out of the ordinary photographs that are spontaneous and individual. Great for kids of all ages. Black and white photos are a speciality of Julia Thorne.
Julia Thorne's work in the photography medium has spanned nearly three decades and has been as diverse in character as the subjects themselves.
Born in Whangarei, New Zealand, in 1959, she moved to Auckland in the mid 1970s and is still based there, but regularly travels abroad.
Journalism at the New Zealand Herald helped open the door to her photography career.
Thorne's experience in journalism and photography, travel, corporate and lifestyle magazine work and individual portraiture, contributes to the layers and subtleties in the art prints.
Nature's inimitable variety and energy, is a constant stimulus for her art work. Like the subjects themselves, each is unique and celebrates life.
Julia Thorne has worked in location photography and journalism for magazines, newspapers, corporate marketing, public relations and arts sectors for 25 years.
"Communicating through photographs is my privilege and passion," Julia says.
"Whether the images illustrate new architectural or interior design elements, help develop a company profile, record business or personal celebrations, capture a child’s expression, or transport readers beyond the page, I see each project as a chance to create images beyond the ordinary."
