This children’s only club caters for kids aged from 2yrs through to 14yrs. The emphasis is on fun in sport! The club operates from October to March.

The Point Chevalier Amateur Athletic Club was established in 1945. Originally intended as a summer fitness training for the Point Chevalier Pirates Rugby League Club, we have grown and developed into our current form - one of the largest children's athletic clubs in Auckland. We have trophies that go back to the 1950's that are still competed for every season. We have a strong tradition in being a family and community focused club which is one of the threads that binds those who participate - children and parents alike - in making PCAAC the success it is today.

Currently, we are one of the few children's only athletic clubs left in the central Auckland area. And we continue to grow year after year offering a fun based, family friendly programme in track and field athletics as well as general all-round skill development for children aged 3 -14+ years of age.

Community Focussed:

From humble beginnings as a summer fitness training club for the local rugby league team we have developed into one of the largest children only athletics clubs in central Auckland. We are family and community focused and encourage all athletes to participate regardless of ability. We believe all children can benefit from being involved in our club. We are always striving to improve the level of programmes offered and the amount of equipment and facilities available to the athletes.

What Happens on Tuesday Club Nights...

We offer most athletic track and field events on our club nights (Tuesdays from 5.15pm) and try and get everyone to do a run, jump & throw discipline during the evening. This varies depending on the age groups.

THE JUNIORS (3-6yrs):
The 3-6yrs do fun, skill based activities, and are run separately in their own area for safety. This does require a lot of organization and helpers/ parents are always required to make the events run smoothly. A junior programme will go as follows:

  • 5.15pm Roll Call & Notices
  • 5.30pm Start of Programme
  • 6.10pm Finish for 3-6yrs

THE SENIORS (7-14yrs):

The 7-14yrs concentrate more on the traditional events (i.e Discuss,100m,high jump, 1500m, etc). These tend to be run in 30 min blocks alternating from a track event to a field event, etc. We try and get athletes from one station to another as quickly as possible so we can start the next discipline. This always requires helpers and parent to assist the station monitors taking the events and moving the age groups about - so please ask to help out! Generally the evening will pan out as follows:

  • 5.30 Roll Call & Notices
  • 5.40 Warm Up
  • 6.00pm Programme for 7+ yrs
  • 7.00pm Programme finish for 7+
  • 7.00pm Optional Distance Run

THURSDAY TRAINING (7-14yrs):

We also offer in depth training on Thursdays for 7+ Athletes who are after a bit more than club night. Occasionally we get full time adult athletes to help coach and offer advice to those who are keen to improve technique and understanding of different events.

Athlete Support:

The club is committed to supporting and rewarding its athletes who make Auckland or Regional teams, and also support athletes in attending outside events (Relay Day, Auckland Champs, Colgate Games, etc ).
