The Eastern Suburbs Gymnastics Club has two levels of artistic gymnastics - recreational and competitive. Girls and boys aged from 3yrs through to teenagers are taught at the Club. School holiday programmes are also available.
ESGC has been operating for 20 years; incorporated as a non profit making society in 1989. Its first home was St Heliers school, followed by the gymnasium at Selwyn College , in Kohimarama, where it operated for 15 years. Thanks to a strongly motivated team of parents who made it possible, in February 2006 the club was able to move into its very own permanent home.
The new facility is a community initiative which was assisted by Auckland City Council. A larger gym and all day availability is allowing the club to grow. It currently caters for over 400 local children in many different classes. Gymnasts from the club compete at local, regional and national events. The club is affiliated to Auckland Gymnastic Association and New Zealand Gymnastic Association.
