The indoor complex at Moana-nui-a-kiwa includes a 25metre heated pool, learner pool, spa pool and sauna. Open from November through to March, the outdoor facilities include five irregular-shaped pools, jump pool, fast and gentle water slides, as well as picnic and barbeque areas.
The indoor swimming pool complex at Moana-Nui-ā-Kiwa Leisure Centre offers a number of great opportunities for everyone to enjoy and learn to be comfortable in the water. We also have popular outdoor fun pools and water slides which are open in the summer.
Entry to the main pools is free. Additional charges apply to the spa, sauna and aquatics classes. All children under 10 need to be actively supervised by a responsible person aged over 16.
Moana-Nui-ā-Kiwa indoor pool complex includes:
- A 25 metre pool for lane swimming, and casual use
- A learn to swim pool, which is purpose built pool in a separate area.
- A toddlers’ splash pool, complete with an island, sprinklers and a spouting whale.
- Spa and sauna. Relaxing spa and separate men’s and women’s saunas. Casual and concession rates apply.
Activities:
- Aquarobics. Fun, low impact group exercise classes are held every week. Timetables are available at reception.
- Swim clubs. Local swim clubs for all ages train at these pools. Contact details available at reception.
- Police recruitment swim assessment. We are an accredited assessor for police recruits. Ask our staff for further details.

December - March:
- Monday to Friday: 6am – 6.45pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am – 6.45pm
April – November:
- Monday to Friday: 6am – 7.45pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am – 6.45pm
Outdoor Pool Hours:
- December – March: 10am – 6.45pm, everyday. (Open until 7.45pm during school holidays)
