A natural pain management option for labour

Expecting a child can be an exciting, fulfilling and life-changing stage in your life. However, as your pregnancy progresses, the up-coming birth may be an event you both welcome and worry about at the same time. Most mothers are concerned about whether the birth will be painful and how they will cope with labour. It is particularly difficult for first-time mums to deal with this anxiety as it is hard to describe a contraction to someone who has not experienced one… also, every woman's experience of birth is different.

Stephanie Hirst is a registered nurse and hypnosis practitioner who has worked in the area of birth hypnosis to help prepare women to deal with the realities of labour. She has prepared a Birth Hypnosis Programme designed to enhance all aspects of childbirth; pre-natal, during labour and delivery, and post-natal.

Birth Hypnosis is a method of reducing the fear/anxiety/stress cycle to provide an easier, more comfortable and natural experience. The programme teaches mothers-to-be (and their partners), how to effectively use techniques of relaxation to naturally lessen the discomfort and pain experienced during pregnancy and labour, to help deliver a healthy and alert baby. Steph can work with each individual/couple to create a series of visualisations with personal meaning, that can be practiced prior to birthing and referenced during the labour.
