Karina MacLeod is the owner of Treehouse Childrens Décor Company in New Zealand.

Initially Karina started operating as Tom Tom Jak producing a line of childrens clothing from her home in Mount Eden , Auckland. Later, this developed into childrens décor and by 1998 she was the New Zealand agent for Treehouse.

Treehouse was launched in 1997 in Cape Town, South Africa where they now have 11 stores. New Zealand was the first to launch a stand alone store outside of South Africa in 2000 . Since then ,stores in Australia, Spain and the Middle East have added to the international growth.

Sarah Olphert, a family friend, manages all operations in the Ponsonby Road store and co-ordinates production and internet sales. She has a Diploma in Early Childhood and has studied Floristry in London. Her understanding of children and her passion for good design is part of what defines Treehouse.

Furniture is made locally by Karina’s father, a true craftsman of old. Other family members are also part of the team, her mother and Sarah’s sister are part of the retail staff and her sister designs most of the advertising material.
