TSCF is the Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship. We've been passionate about student mission for over 70 years. The heritage is much older, with its roots in the Christian witness that sprang out of Charles Simeon’s evangelical ministry at Cambridge in the late 18th century. Student mission took shape in New Zealand in 1936, when the Inter-Varsity Fellowship was founded. IVF became the Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship in 1973.
TSCF is affiliated to the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. The Overseas Christian Fellowship began in 1965 in Otago, and spread quickly as the needs of a growing international student community emerged. Within TSCF, OCF groups are closely aligned with kiwi groups in a partnership almost unique in the world of student mission.
TSCF today is a vibrant movement with some 2000 supporters, 1000 students, a staff of 27 and a passion for what we do. Maybe it’s time you joined us? The heart of TSCF’s vision is reaching students for Christ, and helping them to grow and develop in every aspect of their life in Him. It is a vision for the transformation of individuals, institutions and the worlds that these touch.
TSCF recognizes that students are uniquely placed to reach their fellow students for Christ. They are familiar with the issues, trends and language of student culture. They also have the natural relational networks that make mission possible. The heart of TSCF’s ministry is student-led, campus-based groups. These are witnessing communities, founded on a powerful call: to engage their campus with the gospel. Here, Christian students learn, grow and fellowship together, sharing the joys and challenges of the witnessing life. International student groups work closely with kiwi groups, extending the reach of both.
