Independent Tertiary Institutions – Nga Wananga Motuhake is a group of leading tertiary education providers, committed to innovation and excellence in tertiary education. All members have more than 100 equivalent full time students and an NZQA audit cycle of two years or more.

Each ITI member can appoint a representative to the Board, which approves strategic plans, submissions and most other major decisions. The Board appoints a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson. The Chairperson presides over Board meetings, sets the agenda, represents ITI at key meetings, and oversees the work of the Executive Director, amongst other things. The Deputy Chairperson performs those roles in the Chairperson’s absence. The Board appoints an Executive Director to develop and implement the strategic plan, maintain relationships with stakeholders, administer the organisation and carry out other duties as required.

Tim Cullinane, of New Zealand Management Academies, is ITI’s Chairperson. Sue Allard, of Natcoll Design Technology, is the Deputy Chairperson.

Neil Miller of NCM Communications is ITI’s Executive Director. Neil has worked with education sector for almost 10 years with roles in government and business. He has extensive networks with politicians, policy advisers, researchers, tertiary education providers and the broader community.
