Takapuna is a very popular beach close to the main shopping area with good parking and a large boat ramp. There are toilets and a changing block, as well as a picnic area. On a clear day enjoy great views of the volcanic island of Rangitoto and other Hauraki Gulf islands. Takapuna beach is a great spot to take the kids for a quick dip after school, or for a picnic in the weekends. This beach is usually safe (it can have an undertow in certain swells so do be careful) and it has nice white sand. Even if it isn’t hot enough to swim, Takapuna beach is lovely for a walk.
