The association for students at Tai Poutini Polytechnic, which has eight campuses: Greymouth, Hokitika, Reefton, Wanaka, MAINZ Auckland, School of Scaffolding Auckland, MAINZ Christchurch and School of Scaffolding Christchurch.

In 1989 TPPSA became a compulsory student membership association by way of a student referendum in accordance with sections 229B of the Education Act 1989; in 1993 TPPSA became an Incorporated Society to better represent the interests of students.

TPPSA is committed to fostering a good relationship with TPP by working closely with Tai Poutini Polytechnic to ensure your educational year meets your needs and more where possible. The aim of the Association is as follows:

  • Representation and Advocacy
  • Welfare
  • Social and Recreational
  • TPPSA Structure and Representatio

The objectives of the Association:

  • The representation of the student body and the organisation.
  • The co-ordination of services conducive to the welfare and well-being of the students of Tai Poutini Polytechnic and its divisions.
  • To co-ordinate, control, represent and act for the members of TPPSA in all matters in which the members, as a body, are interested.
  • To foster intellectual, sporting and social life in the Polytechnic and advance education.
  • To manage and control the assets of TPPSA for the use and benefit of all students.
  • To affiliate with any other club, society, union or association including any parent association
  • To employ all persons, agents and servants for the purpose of and to do all such things as are, or may be, incidental or conducive to any of the objectives of the Association.
  • To act in accordance with the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi as defined by the Government where it is consistent with the interests of tertiary students.
