This is extremely popular in summer - the car park can be heaving with people but with good reason. The children's playground and miniature train rides, are excellent and kids adore the place. The playground is good for all ages although the train rides are definitely a preschoolers favourite.
The beautiful sandy beach combined with the playground makes for a lovely day out! There's also an excellent cafe overlooking the bay. If you try it off season, midweek, or outside school holidays it's bliss! It is exposed to easterlies so check the weather forecast.
Long Bay Regional Park is a favourite for many Aucklanders, attracting well over one million visitors a year. It provides a backdrop to the great stretch of beach that gives the park its name.
Safe swimming, a wealth of shady picnic spots, plenty of open space for games and disabled-friendly playground make this a great place for all the family to enjoy.
The sweeping beach adjoins a marine reserve while the park itself also has stands of native bush, the historic Vaughan Homestead and a restaurant.
