Again, recommended to Kids New Zealand by a number of parents, this is a laid-back, friendly café complete with covered courtyard, sandpit and a small enclosed grass area where older children can play. The menu isn’t extensive, but you will find things like pancakes, French toast and eggs. There’s one highchair, but no baby changing facility.

The cafe seats up to 40 guests in a modern but friendly neighbourhood atmosphere. Enjoy both indoor and fully covered outdoor courtyard year round. The courtyard contains a large community table that seats up to 12, several smaller tables for various sized groups and a sunny garden atmosphere. Bookings are not necessary but we do accept bookings for business meetings, larger groups and special events. Bookings may require a pre-arranged menu.

Sierra Café, at Princes Wharf on the waterfront, is great if you’re visiting the National Maritime Museum close by. There’s everything from bacon and eggs to fries, wedges and paninis. The ever popular fluffy is on the menu, along with cordials in Disney character bottles. Highchair provided.
On a fine Sunday the Loaded Hog at the Viaduct is a great place to be. On Sunday there's free face-painting for the kids from 2pm till 4pm. For food, children can choose from either fish and chips or a burger meal. Crayons, colouring-in sheets and highchairs provided.

Pizza, pasta and gelato are great treats for the kids at Gina Pizzeria. Kids main meals cost $12, and gelato $6. Fluffies, juices and soft drinks all feature on the menu. This family friendly restaurant provides crayons and colouring books as well as a couple of highchairs.
