To breastfeed happily, a mother needs confidence, the right information, and lots of time: time to talk with other mothers who are sympathetic to her needs and the needs of her baby. Our aim is to provide this service.
La Leche League (pronounced "Lah Lay-chay League") is an organisation founded by seven women who wanted to make breastfeeding easier and more rewarding for both mothers and children. The organisation offers information and encouragement - primarily through personal help - to women who want to breastfeed their babies.

Cure Kids (previously Child Health Research Foundation) was established over 30 years ago to address the lack of research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand.
Since then, we have invested over $21 million in medical research. This research has helped save hundreds of young lives and has improved the quality of life for thousands of children.
We are more committed than ever to help find answers to the many cruel, life-threatening illnesses that devastate the lives of young children and their families.
Our Successes Include:

We do this by thoroughly researching and understanding the needs of children and families in New Zealand, as well as learning from the Ronald McDonald House Charities family around the world.
Our programmes are not here to meet short term problems. All of them take years to develop and will remain in New Zealand offering care and comfort to families for as long as families need us.
The National Screening Unit (NSU) provides health screening programmes in New Zealand. A separate unit of the Ministry of Health, the Unit is responsible for the safety, effectiveness and quality of organised screening programmes. The Unit is currently responsible for the national coordination of five screening programmes:
As children grow they face a number of negative influences that can over time have an extremely negative effect changing their desires and leading, in the worst cases, to personal and social problems associated with poor health, low self-esteem and abuse of people and substances.
Life Education is a non-profit organisation. We teach health to over 200,000 primary and intermediate school children each year. We go into schools by invitation, not by right. We are linked into the school curriculum.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in 1980 in the USA with the fulfilment of the wish of a 7-year-old boy with leukaemia who wanted to be a policeman. Officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety granted his wish with a custom-made uniform, helmet and badge and even a helicopter ride. That one child’s delight in having his wish fulfilled provided the inspiration for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
