West Auckland Soapbox Derby
When:

9th Annual West Auckland Soapbox Derby.
80 West Auckland students from 20 schools take part in a day of fast and thrilling soap box racing down Westgate Drive.
Live lunchtime displays of "other" vehicles, stalls, games and more will be provided on the day.
The cars are kit set cars brought in from the AASBD in America. As the winner of the NZ Finals races in the All American Soapbox Derby in Akron in July, racing in the local races is very intense and a lot of fun to watch.
Kapiti Miniature Railway Twilight Run
When:

The twilight run will recognize the end of daylight savings. Enjoy the fun of riding the miniature trains at night. Headlights exploring the dark whilst you see the twinkle of red tail lights of other trains. Experience the thrill of seeing the beautiful park at night. Why not bring a late tea to the park and enjoy the atmosphere?

KAT's annual free summer play for children opens in Khandallah Park, 11th February at 3pm.
Sleeping Beauty is directed by Tabitha Arthur with an energetic cast of 6 who play numerous roles including a horse, Prince Charles and Sonny Bill Williams! There's puppetry and music as well.

Summertimes
Summertimes a festival of free outdoor entertainment running from December to March every summer. It is with great pleasure that I introduce this year's Garden City SummerTimes events programme – a welcome citywide festival following a tough few months in Christchurch.
We start with the New Year's Eve Party at the Cathedral Square and build up the enjoyment for summer with dozens of events, fetes and fairs held through out the city.
