Athletics Auckland believes that athletics is a foundation sport involving running, jumping, throwing and walking. These core skills are integrated into all aspects of athletics coaching and competing and are consistent with the skills you need for sports like Rugby, Soccer, Netball and Hockey to name a few. Athletics Auckland's role as the Regional Sporting Organisation for athletics is to help all Aucklanders enjoy athletic activities whether this involves regular competitive involvement, casual participation or occasional exercise.

The Lake City Athletic Club was formed in 1991 from the two clubs that previously existed in Rotorua. The club is a registered as an incorporated Society and is an affiliated member of Athletics New Zealand.

In addition to the normal activities of athletic clubs, we cater for members of the jogging and walking fraternity, and organise a marathon clinic over the summer months.

Drug Free Sport NZ

Drug Free Sport NZ an organisation that aims to provide a sporting environment free of banned doping methods for New Zealand sport and athletes.

The NZOCGA responded to this by instituting a testing programme for all athletes who were in contention for selection to the New Zealand team at those Games. The Hillary Commission (now Sport and Recreation New Zealand - SPARC) contributed to the cost of that programme and the overseeing committee was convened by Ian Boyd.
