Westgate Riding Academy Horse Riding

Westgate Riding Academy is well known for producing great riders! They have high standards and expectations, but are also very relaxed in their approach. Fifteen minutes from central Auckland, Westgate’s lessons consist of groups of up to 6 riders. Classes run for one hour on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Their all weather arena is floodlit for the winter months, although if the weather is really bad, they’ll cover theory combined with ground lessons.

Ti Tree Hills Horse Riding Treks

Ti Tree Hills, 35 minutes north of Auckland city, offer guided hill country rides through native bush. Ti Tree Hills cater for children and adults of all ages, with a maximum group size of around six. Children under 5yrs can experience a short pony ride round the paddock.

Sonshine Ranch Charitable Trust

Sonshine Ranch Charitable Trust is a Christian outdoor recreation centre situated only 12 km from Papakura, South Auckland, New Zealand. As well as running programmes for school and youth groups, Sonshine Ranch offers horse treks during the weekends (by arrangement), and day programmes and camps during each school holidays. Sonshine Ranch has about 30 well-mannered horses, an impressive rock-climbing tower and other activities such as a flying fox, rope swing, kayaks, and a challenging water-confidence course.

Blackbridge Stables

Blackbridge Stables, 35 minutes from central Auckland, offer group and private riding lessons for children aged 5yrs plus. After school classes (which last one hour) run on Tuesdays through to Sundays, and cost $28 for a group lesson and $40 for a private lesson.

During the school holidays Blackbridge run day-long (8.30am-4pm) programmes which include horse care, riding lessons, treking and a b-b-q lunch.
