Children can start to learn soccer from about the age of 5yrs, and there are many clubs in Auckland. Below is a list of clubs in your area.

Central United FC is recognised today as one of the premier football clubs in New Zealand. When the club was formed back in 1962 this was far from the case.

The Dalmatian migrant influence on New Zealand history is long, rich and profoundly positive. 2008 marks the 150th anniversary of Croatian settlement in New Zealand.

On behalf of the 20 clubs within the province, The Auckland Rugby Football Union is responsible for the, management, administration, marketing and development of rugby in the area.

Based at Eden Park, the home of many of New Zealand's greatest rugby moments, the union facilitates the running of school, club and representative competitions which Auckland teams participate in

These include primary school competitions like the Bill McLaren trophy, Club competitions such as the world renowned Gallaher Shield, right up to the Air New Zealand Cup.

Kids can start to learn rugby league from the age of about 6yrs. There are many clubs around Auckland that include children's teams and coaching.

Children usually start to learn netball from the age of about 10yrs. Almost all netball is organised through schools, so if you would like your children to get involved in the sport - talk to their teachers.

Netball New Zealand has a structured tiered development programme that is devised to carry a budding five-year-old all the way to the Silver Ferns.

Inline Hockey Clubs in the Auckland region cater for kids aged from 5 years. Club meetings begin in February. All players are welcome including social teams, competitive and school teams. The inline hockey season usually lasts from March to September each year.

Basketball

Children can start to learn 'mini-ball', which is a junior version of basketball, from 8yrs. Almost all basketball teams and coaching is arranged through schools - so if you would like your children to get involved, talk with their teachers.

Seven years ago, very few would have believed a basketball game could be a top-rating sports event on New Zealand TV, much less a game featuring the Tall Blacks.

This private sailing centre primarily teaches adults, but if you make a group booking of three children, then they will teach them to sail. The centre teaches sailing on Olympic soling 8.2 meter keelboats. Best suited for children 11yrs plus.

Maraetai Beach Boating Club

Situated on beautiful Maraetai Beach our Club actively promotes all types of boating and encourages all types of aquatic sports, sailing, and junior sailing programmes. Socializing and dining is also high on our priority list and a very active Fishing Committee holds competitions and fishing events throughout the year. The Social Committee also holds various functions in and out of the Clubroom throughout the year for its members and their guests.
